In July of 2011, Sean and I planned a few days to get away with the girls and see what Savannah had to offer. The way Sean explains it is…We might not know if we love a place in four days, but we will know if we hate it. Savannah is about an 8 1/2 hour drive from Stafford, VA. When we crossed the bridge and drove into the City…it was love at first sight. I thought “where have you been all my life?” Over the next few days we drove all over town, in and out of neighborhoods, trying to imagine life there. We spent the last day at the beach on Tybee Island. Several people told us that we would enjoy it out there. It was just amazing. A beautiful day of sunshine, sand and surf. The girls found sand dollars in the ocean, and body surfed with Sean. I sat in a beach chair and dreamed about all that we experienced in four amazing days. At the end of the day we drove back to Virginia. It was now time to get busy.
This trip gave us enough of a feel to think that Savannah would be a great place to slow down and get a renewed sense of life. When we got back to Virginia, we began the great purge. Craigslist, freecycle and a big a$$ yardsale were my best friends.
We still did not know when or exactly where we were going to move, but it was settled in our hearts that at some point this was going to happen, and we were going to be ready for it.
